Month-by-Month Guide
January
January kicks off the dry season with some of the year's most comfortable conditions. You're looking at pleasant temperatures and relatively low rainfall at 2.4 inches, making it peak tourist season. The trade winds keep things feeling fresh despite the humidity, and you'll find the island buzzing with visitors enjoying the escape from winter elsewhere.
February
February is arguably the driest month with only 2.0 inches of rainfall, and it maintains those lovely mid-80s temperatures. The seas tend to be particularly calm this month, which is great for water activities and beach time. It's still peak season though, so expect higher prices and more crowded beaches.
March
March continues the dry season trend with the lowest rainfall of the year at just 1.8 inches. Temperatures tick up slightly but remain comfortable, and you're still in the sweet spot for beach activities and outdoor exploration. Crowds start to thin slightly toward the end of the month as spring break wraps up.
April
April marks the transition period as temperatures warm up a bit and rainfall inches toward 2.6 inches. You're still in relatively dry conditions overall, and this is when you might start finding better deals as the peak season winds down. The heat becomes more noticeable, but the trade winds still provide decent relief.
May
May sees a noticeable uptick in rainfall to 3.3 inches as the wet season starts creeping in, and temperatures continue their gradual climb. Showers tend to be brief and often occur in the late afternoon or evening, so you can usually still plan morning activities. Tourist numbers drop off, which means better prices and less crowded attractions.
June
June officially enters hurricane season, though actual storms are relatively rare this early. Rainfall sits at 2.7 inches—actually less than May—and temperatures hover around 87°F. The combination of heat and humidity becomes more pronounced, and you'll want to plan indoor activities for the hottest part of the day.
July
July brings more consistent rainfall at 4.0 inches, with those characteristic tropical afternoon showers becoming more frequent. Temperatures remain steady in the upper 80s, and the humidity is definitely noticeable. That said, the rain tends to cool things down temporarily, and mornings are often quite pleasant for getting out and exploring.
August
August is typically the hottest month with highs reaching 88°F, and rainfall increases to 4.2 inches. The heat combined with humidity can feel quite intense, particularly in the middle of the day. Hurricane activity picks up during this month, so it's worth keeping an eye on weather forecasts, though direct hits remain uncommon.
September
September sits right in the heart of hurricane season and sees rainfall jump to 4.6 inches. While temperatures moderate slightly from August, the combination of heat, humidity, and frequent rain showers makes this one of the less comfortable months. The upside is that you'll find excellent deals on accommodations and have attractions largely to yourself.
October
October is the wettest month by far with 7.4 inches of rainfall, and it's peak hurricane season. Showers can be heavy and prolonged, and there's a higher chance of stormy weather disrupting plans. Temperatures remain warm but the frequent cloud cover and rain provide some relief from the heat—just be prepared for indoor backup plans.
November
November sees rainfall starting to decrease to 5.5 inches as hurricane season winds down, though you're not completely out of the woods yet. Temperatures remain pleasantly warm, and toward the end of the month, you'll notice the weather becoming more settled. Tourist numbers start picking up again as people look for Thanksgiving getaways.
December
December marks the return to drier conditions with 4.3 inches of rainfall and the beginning of peak tourist season. Temperatures cool slightly to the mid-80s, and the holiday period brings a festive atmosphere to the island. Book well in advance if you're planning to visit during Christmas and New Year's, as accommodation fills up quickly.
